Vacuum deposition section

Optical elements
|
This is staffed by 18 skilled technicians with a variety of specialist skills.
The optical shop can carry out the complete set of technical processes required to convert a basic piece of glass into a completed element with appropriate optical coatings.
Sections:
- Basic operations:
- sawing,
- curve generation,
- grinding
- Fine grinding and polishing
- Centering
- Gluing
- Cleaning
- Chemical AR coatings
- Vacuum coatings
- Manufacturing of IR optics
The optical details of any glass quality ranging from 3 mm to 850 mm (the size is restricted by the vacuum systems)
with surface accuracy of up to l/10...l/20 and angular accuracy equal to ~3...5" can be manufactured in the shop. A large variety of large-aperture optical elements for space objectives, and blanks for diffraction gratings have been manufactured in the shop. Optical finishing of monocrystine components, including toxic ones, up to 350 mm are carried out at the environmentally sealed section.
More than twenty techniques of vacuum deposition are employed in the shop, among which are the application of antireflecting coatings on laser rods, narrow-band interference filters in the visible and IR spectral region, thick aluminium coatings for the large nickel-based plates with a nonuniform density, deposition of the conducting coatings and so on. Method of deep optical contact is used to manufacture the optical systems.
