The shop has skilled optical technicians, metalworkers and electricians.
The shop consists of 5 sections:
- assembly of devices and systems
- wiring
- varnish-and-paint
- powder painting
- metal plating
The shop is equipped with the machining facilities and with checking and alignment equipment, making it possible
to assemble modern optoelectronic and optomechanic devices: large objectives, thermal direction finders, laser and spectrometeric systems,
thermal imagers etc.
More than twenty electroplating procedures have been developed to a commercial standard at the
electroplating section, to meet the needs of the region. Procedures include the deposition of “black nickel” on titanium alloys,
the application of solid anodized coating on aluminium alloys, “tin-bismuth”, black chrome, electropolishing of the copper alloys
and stainless steel, and chemical silver plating of laser reflectors.
